Protagonize www.protagonize.com is an interactive fiction and collaborative story writing community. How it works is a person/student which will be the author writes a story and post it on the site,other people that are members of the site can post additional chapters or ending to the story and take it in a totally different direction. In the end there is a masterpiece of a story where all students in a classroom share and contribute their creativity and ideas. Protagonize can add an exciting twist to Descriptive Writing activities and small group writing activities.
It is free to register to Protagonize and it is supported and financed by the advertisers that are listed on the site.

I think Protagonize will be a great site to use in middle school or secondary eduction. It provides a different type of writing resource for teachers to use with students on collaboration and enhancing writing skills.What educators should keep in mind is that the writing component is gradually being implemented as part of the promotion criteria and will soon be a major section of ISAT that students of all testing grades will need to pass. Protagonize is a great way to promote student "buy in" with writing and add a little fun to writing activities.
